I’m Rachel. Loving wife, mother of two, and a multi-award winning maternity and newborn photographer Edinburgh & Dunfermline, Fife
First of all, huge congratulations! If you’ve recently had a child or are eagerly awaiting their arrival, your lives are about to change forever in the very best possible way.
My babies aren’t so little anymore, but you never forget the awe-inspiring weeks either side of the birth. The feeling of your baby moving inside you. Their warm, sleepy weight on your chest. Their tiny fingers wrapped around yours.
And as a maternity and newborn photographer my passion is creative, soulful, beautiful photography filled with the closeness and connection of those early days and weeks.
I offer artistic newborn photography and maternity sessions from my beautiful little photo studio in Fife, as well as in-home baby photography in Edinburgh, Dunfermline, Fife and surrounding areas. I know the importance these photos will hold for you in years to come, and I’ll capture them with all the love and care they deserve.
Finalist in The Scottish Portrait Awards 2023
The highlight of my photographic career so far has to be being shortlisted for the Scottish Portrait Awards. The framed print of the image here was part of the travelling exhibition which started in Edinburgh and ended in Glasgow. Seeing my work displayed amongst the best of Scottish talent was a very proud moment.

Natural and intimate maternity sessions with a client closet for you to choose your outfit from with items chosen for their natural earthy feel.
Come to my studio, bathed in soft light and natural Scandi furniture. Borrow from my client closet for mums, dads and babies.
Stay home, cosy and warm and let me come to you. I also bring along a few items from my client closet so you don’t need to think about a thing.
Rachel led the day in a calming and gentle way, our baby hardly made a peep throughout.

My newborn and maternity photography style

My aim as a newborn photographer is to capture authentic moments in an artistic way. I’ll give you gentle direction, so you’re never left feeling awkward or wondering what to do.
My images focus on details and moments; their tiny hands in yours, an embrace, a little look. Creative frames that capture the purest of memories in the most beautiful way.
I want to create a relaxing, safe space where you can let the rest of the world fall away and just be together in the moment. So even though I’m a quiet, thoughtful soul, I tend to chat a lot during my sessions. But it’s the moments of quiet that are the most special.
When your baby’s asleep on your chest, and I can take a minute to create a beautiful composition while you breathe in your little one. Or when a father is curled around mother and baby, his whole world wrapped in his arms.
Moments so quiet and pure, you wish you could bottle them. These will be the moments you long for in years to come, and the ones I’ll take such care to capture.
